A short while ago I took delivery of a yacht for restoration, as you can see from the photos it required some TLC, firstly a took some photos for reference. The first stage was to remove all of the aged varnish etc very carefully to preserve the deck area especially once this had been done, I could mark on the planking detail prior to sealing for maximum effect. The next stage was to move onto the hull itself this required total stripping back and sealing prior to priming and painting followed by polishing.
With the hull now fully dried I moved onto replacing the sails with new ones and the bowsprit as well as all of the required rigging to finish the model, once checked over the final task was to make a stand from Oak to enhance the end result.
Overall, this proved to be an enjoyable restoration that can be enjoyed for years to come.
